Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Standby app for Android (“Standby”, “the app”), published by Standby App (“we”, “us”), handles information. The short version: Standby works on your device, does not require an account, and we do not collect, sell or share your personal data.

Information we don’t collect

We don’t ask you to sign up, and we don’t collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, calendar events or precise location. Standby contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.

Data the app uses on your device

Some features need access to data on your phone. This data is read and displayed locally and is never uploaded to our servers. Each permission is optional, and you can revoke it at any time in Android Settings.

• Photos: to show the albums you choose as a slideshow.
• Calendar: to show upcoming events in the calendar widget.
• Approximate location: to show local weather. See below.
• Media and notification access: to show what’s playing and offer playback controls in the music widget.
• Settings and preferences: your chosen clock faces, widgets, colors and schedules are stored on your device.

Weather

To fetch a forecast, the app sends your approximate location (rounded coordinates or the city you pick) to a third-party weather service. This request does not include any identifier that links it to you, and we don’t store it. If you don’t grant location access, you can enter a city manually or turn the weather widget off.

Google Play

Standby is distributed through Google Play. Google may collect information such as crash reports and device diagnostics under its own privacy policy. We only see aggregated, anonymous statistics provided by the Google Play Console.

Data retention and deletion

Because everything is stored on your device, you’re in control. You can clear the app’s data in Android Settings, or uninstall Standby to remove it entirely. We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete.

Children

Standby is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and doesn’t use cookies or analytics. Cloudflare may process standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the site.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
